‘Blade’ Will Return To The Big Screen Someday, Says Marvel’s Kevin Feige

Dark Universe

Blade was a pretty good series that seemed like it stopped primarily because Wesley Snipes got into tax troubles.

Via the excellent horror site Dark Universe:

Has it really been 13 years since we last saw Wesley Snipes tearing it up in a Blade film? Well, we feel it’s about time for the character to make a return, don’t you think? Good news, Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige wants to bring back the vampire superhero to the big screen.

Feige recently spoke with the guys over at JoBlo, where he revealed a possibility of a new Blade film in the future. No word on whether Snipes will be involved or not, but we sure as hell hope he comes back.

We think it would be cool. Someday. My tenure at Marvel started 17 years ago, and there were two things that sort of launched the modern era. One was X-Men, which was the first thing that people said, “Oh, there’s life here.” But a few years before that, there was Blade. A character nobody had heard of at all, had only appeared in a few issues of Tomb of Dracula or something, turned into a big franchise. That was always a great lesson for me, where you go, “It doesn’t matter how well known the character is, it matters how cool the movie is.” Which, many years later, would be the reason we do Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange. I think Blade is a legacy character now, and I think it would be fun to do something with him one day.

We’re looking forward to more Blade and hopefully Snipes will star in the series again.

New Han Solo Details Emerge: A Fired Editor, A Hired Acting Coach & More

Lots more details coming out regarding the Han Solo mess.

Via Slashfilm:

The official story was that the directing style of Phil Lord & Chris Miller clashed with what Kathleen Kennedy and Lawrence Kasdan had expected them to do, and their disagreement over the direction of the movie finally came to a head that resulted in their termination with three weeks left in production. But since then, some more details have come to the surface that shed some more light on the situation.

When it comes to stories that dig into the reasoning that saw the original Han Solo directors fired, it all still boils down to creative differences between Lord & Miller and Lucasfilm, but it’s the specifics that are rather interesting, though admittedly also a little gossipy. It includes talk of an acting coach, a reference to Ace Ventura and more.

Reportedly Lord & Miller, known for their work on 21 Jump Street and The LEGO Movie, not to mention executive producing shows like Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Last Man on Earth, were turning the Han Solo movie into more of a comedy than Lucasfilm was comfortable with. The story says, “Kennedy believed Lord and Miller were hired to add a comedic touch; Lord and Miller believed they were hired to make a comedy.”

‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Will Kill Off Some Of Our Heroes

More superheroes being killed off to make way for those deeper in the bench.

Via Heroic Hollywood: By the time Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters next summer, fans will need to prepare themselves when some of their favorite heroes meet their doom.

A common criticism for the MCU is that stakes are not always high. Given that the franchise has often had fake-out deaths, it’s easy to doubt whether or not these characters will end up returning later on in the film. It also doesn’t help that the upcoming slate of MCU entries is public knowledge so it is difficult to remain invested at points, knowing that the majority of our heroes will be returning – as the postscripts of many of the MCU films state.

But because Avengers: Infinity War is the culmination of the entire MCU that began with Iron Man in 2008, character deaths are inevitable. Both the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy have experienced some life-threatening situations that took the lives of a few of their respective members. It is only a matter of time that more of them will not live for the next adventure.

Overwatch’s Loot Boxes Are About To Get Way, Way Better

Love playing Overwatch but rewards in the form of duplicate cans of spray paint and other useless baubles are kind of lame. Good news is that changes are coming!

Via TechnoBuffalo: When you’ve dumped something like 200 hours into Overwatch, your Loot Box prospects start to turn pretty grim. You might get a few things you don’t have here and there, but you’re largely likely to land with duplicates. Those dupes yield credits, but not enough to really add up too fast.

Better than duplicates are the piles of credits that drop occasionally, and these are broken into tiers of value. In the Developer Update you see above, Director Jeff Kaplan announces that they’ll be drastically reducing the number of duplicates players see in Loot Boxes. Even better, to balance that drop, they’ll ratchet up the rate of credit drops.

Hopefully, gone are the days of landing with four duplicates and a reduced credit pool. Instead, we’ll be able to make more in-game bucks for buying sweet, event-tied loot down the line.
