Two Days Left! Galactic Empire Kickstarter Is Almost There!

UPDATE: We’ve upped our contribution! Only two days to go, folks! Let’s get Galactic Empire over the finish line!

galacticempire1Nerds! Bang your heads to this awesome lineup of Galactic Empire playing your favorite Star Wars tunes! But to expand into the galaxy, they need your help:

“We are Galactic Empire, a heavy metal band comprised of the most sinister villains in the universe. We have successfully infiltrated earth’s “internet” with our first music video, accumulating 8 million total views, press coverage from Huffington Post, Entertainment Weekly and MSNBC (among many others), and a live network television performance on E! Entertainment during their coverage of the 2016 Academy Awards.

But now we face a new mission. The puny humans of your small forest planet Earth have indicated a desire to see the mighty Galactic Empire perform our music in a live scenario. We would be most pleased to fulfill this request.

This Kickstarter campaign has been created to raise enough earth currency to acquire the proper equipment we will need to put on an explosive live show, including amps, speaker cabinetsin-ear monitors, lighting rig, cases, transportation, trailer, merchandise, costume modifications and everything else needed to lay waste to your local system with pure sonic annihilation. We will also use a portion of the money to cover the expenses of our new music video for “The Imperial March“, which you can view now on our Facebook page.”

The video below the fold has more explosive power than a thousand star destroyers. More on Galactic Empire’s plans to rule the galaxy here….

Wanted By The Empire: Mace Windu… ALIVE

macewinduSo the news drops today that for whatever reason, the Star Wars universe isn’t big enough that we don’t have to go back and dig up old characters who may or may not have died. Case in point: Mace Windu, who we are now hearing from Samuel L. Jackson, is rumored to be alive. Why this is coming out now, years later, is anyone’s guess when there is so much other material to work with. But it IS possible. Think about it: Mace loses to Darth Sidious who blasts him out a window for a fall of who knows how many stories after Anakin cuts his arm off. Anyone else you know who survived this? That’s right! Luke Skywalker. We never really did hear what happened to Mace. It was assumed that he was dead. But when your body comes flying down into a crowded city it’s not impossible to think that maybe someone helped him and later he went into hiding. No one has mentioned him in four movies so it’s safe to assume that if he’s alive, he’s retired. More, by the time The Force Awakens has rolled around, Windu should have passed from old age. So it’s doubtful you’ll see him in Episode VIII or IX. There is the slight chance he could appear in the Rogue One storyline…

Would you be interested in seeing the return of Mace Windu?

Netflix To Reboot Lost In Space

image

Why, exactly, we’re not sure as this was one of the silliest sci-fi shows ever made. Not even sure if the 1998 movie with Matt LeBlanc ever did well. “The new incarnation of Irwin Allen’s ’60s sci-fi drama will be piloted by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless (Dracula Untold) and Prison Break’s Zack Estrin will serve as showrunner. This version once again follows the Robinson family, who are stranded light years from where they are supposed to be headed, and they find themselves battling a strange new alien environment and also their own personal demons.”

Head on over to read more about the reboot of the original 1965 Lost In Space here…

We Stand In Awed Reverence Of This 200 Watt Laser Bazooka

Laser party

This is the kind of thing that makes a nerd weep tears of joy. A statue of this man belongs in every city, town, hamlet, and sci-fi convention. Sadly, when this video reaches the NSA, our poor hero’s days may be numbered.

Just imagine yourself dressed as a stormtrooper and firing this thing. Would fellow nerds not fall to the ground in worship? Watch the video below and you’ll agree with everything we’ve said.

Update: We’ve decided we want the laser bazooka AND the cyclops helmet.

Juno Spacecraft Arrives At Jupiter July 4

jupiterAt 5:18 PM EST (if all goes well), to be exact! Costing over $1 billion, the probe will be the first to visit the solar system’s largest planet since 1995. The probe will study water content, whether Jupiter has a core, and try to look at the poles. It is sincerely hoped all this can be done without upsetting the Jovians who will certainly retaliate by launching an attack against Earth, losing to superior human space forces, and resulting in a Disney biopic twenty-five years hence.

Your Sci-Fi Tune Of The Day – Brian May/Eddie Van Halen: Star Fleet Project

starfleetBack in 1983, this little project popped up and was as gone as fast as it arrived. MTV wasn’t as metal/guitar friendly in those days. Or maybe this project just confused the heck out of everyone and as a result, didn’t sell. Who knows? But we’ve got it here in all its glory.

“The idea for the album came from May’s son, Jimmy.

Star Fleet is the theme tune for a superb TV sci-fi series broadcast in England for kids of all ages; Japanese visuals and British soundtrack including music by Paul Bliss. The heroes pilot space vehicles which can assemble into a giant robot for land battles. The aliens fly fantastic insect-like craft which spawn smaller fighting machines; all intent on possession of the secret of F Zero One. Having been introduced to all this by my small boy, I became equally obsessed by it, and formed the idea of making a hard rock version of the title theme.

— Brian May”
The cool part about these tunes is that they were allegedly released ‘as is’ with no mixdown, so you can hear all kinds of little flubs and things. And if you’re into guitar, it’s fun to try to pick out who’s doing what on the songs.

Batman: Return To Arkham Delayed

batman-logo-150x150Not really sure what’s going on but probably nothing more than the developers took a look at what they had so far and figured the deadline they set wasn’t going to cut it.

Batman: Return To Arkham will not be releasing next month. The news this morning coming straight from the horses mouth as the devs took to their forums to explain themselves to fans…

After reviewing the progress of the project, the team at WB Games has decided to delay the release of Batman: Return to Arkham to give the team at Virtuous Games additional time to deliver a polished Batman Arkham game experience.  We do not have a release date yet and will be sure to communicate that once we are sure the game will be ready.   We know this is disappointing news, but we feel the extra time will allow the team to create the best gaming experience for our fans. “

Have a look at the announce trailer below. More on Batman: Return To Arkham here

Kabam to Release Avatar Mobile Multiplayer Game

avatarWe have serious doubts about the strength of Avatar beyond an interesting sci-fi romance and cool special effects The movie came out, did really well, and… You haven’t heard anyone talk about it since. Except Hollywood. It’s not like you see Avatar shirts or themes or memes or cosplay or discussion on Twitter. Are fans going to treat Avatar the way they do Star Wars or Star Trek, Alien, Predator, or Back to the Future? We’ll see.

George Romero Gets Hollywood Walk Of Fame Star

zombie2It’s about time! We said, echoing every other horror fan on the planet.

It’s a wonder what took the movie industry so long to get him a star. We’re at the height of the zombie craze right now and this is literally the man who started it. Romero is responsible for such horror giants as: Night of the Living Dead, Season of the Witch, The Crazies, Dawn of the Dead, and Day of the Dead. Did you know one of Romero’s earliest commercials was to film a tonsillectomy for Mr. Rogers, of Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood? Try dropping that fun fact at your next con! There’s a cool short clip of Dawn of the Dead (remake) below where some neighbors get ‘et up. Enjoy!
