Killmonger Explained: Who Is The Black Panther Villain?

Black Panther continues to generate a lot of excitement and the trailer looks really good. Here’s some info on the upcoming villain, Killmonger.

Via Slashfilm: Superhero movie next year. But for hardcore fans of the character, half the fun with this new addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe is seeing T’Challa’s nemesis, Erik Killmonger, finally brought to life (and played by Michael B. Jordan).

But don’t worry if you’ve never heard of this Marvel villain before. We’re here to break down everything you need to know about the man who would rule Wakanda.

Most superheroes worth their salt have at least one villain who serves as their dark, twisted mirror image, and Killmonger fills that role for Black Panther. This exiled Wakandan native is obsessed with overthrowing King T’Challa and ridding the country of all white imperialist influences. Basically, he’s loyal to Wakanda, but not its ruling family.

‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Creates ‘New Rules’ For The Franchise, Says Star Adam Driver

Hopefully, the folks at Disney won’t stretch these ‘new rules’ too far…

Via SlashFilm:

Adam Driver is probably the No. 1 hype man for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the eighth film in the core Star Wars franchise.

He has raved about the script, about director Rian Johnson, and now he has one more glowing thing to say. And it has interesting implications about the plot for The Last Jedi.

In an interview with The Huffington Post, Driver elaborated on his late 2016 comments when he gushed about Johnson, calling him “a brilliant filmmaker” who “understands the importance of ambiguity and nuance.” He said:

“[W]hat Rian had written was remarkable. He created new rules for the “Star Wars” universe and balanced the familiar and unfamiliar very adeptly while respecting that his audience can handle ambiguity. Which you can see in his previous films. Characters and story are his priority.”

Cult Of Chucky Trailer

Chucky’s back! Chucky returns to terrorize his human victim, Nica. Meanwhile, the killer doll has some scores to settle with his old enemies, with the help of his former wife.

From IMDb: This is the first Child’s Play movie, since 1991’s Child’s Play 3, that will feature the character of Andy Barclay as a main protagonist. Andy did however make a post credit scene at the end of 2013’s Curse of Chucky. That was more or less a fan service scene lasting less than 5 minutes, though.

‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Novel Tie-In Coming September, Comic To Follow

Nice to see the ‘all hands on deck’ attitude toward the unveiling Star Trek: Discovery. Looking forward to all the new material!

In March we reported that the first Star Trek: Discovery novel tie-in was available for pre-order and titled Star Trek: Discovery: Desperate Hours, written by David Mack. Now that CBS has set a release date for the series, Pocket Books has set the release for Desperate Hours for September 26th, the Tuesday following the premiere (September 24th).

As of now, there’s no cover or synopsis for the novel, but in an exclusive interview with TrekMovie, Mack said of the the book:

I developed it based on characters, dialogue, backstory, and situations in the upcoming series’ two-part pilot. If we’ve all done our jobs correctly, it should serve as an excellent companion piece to the two-part premiere.

Star Trek: Discovery: Desperate Hours can be pre-ordered at Amazon in large-format paperback and  Kindle e-book. It will also be available as an unabridged audiobook at Audible and other audiobook retailers.

Discovery comic coming too

IDW is also working on a comic book tie-in to Star Trek: Discovery. It will be written by Mike Johnson and Kirsten Beyer with art by Tony Shasteen. We know it won’t be released in September as it wasn’t part of IDW’s  announcement of their September comics, but it could still come as soon as October. We will know more when IDW announces their October solicitations in July, or perhaps there will be something announced at San Diego Comic Con.

Game Of Thrones Showrunners Season 7 Interview: ‘The War Is Here’

Season 7 is almost here so here’s a great interview to get you pumped for the war!

Via EW: The penultimate season of HBO’s Game of Thrones is less than three weeks away and EW has its annual pre-season interview with Emmy-winning showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss. The duo take some of our burning questions with their usual spoiler-free mix of insight and wit as they give fans a sense of their international hit drama’s unprecedented massiveness this season — as well some thoughts on Dany’s dragons, Tormund’s fixation on Brienne, the one scene they wish they could write, and more…  (Note: Some of their comments have been previously published — so regular readers of EW’s GoT coverage will have a few moments of deju vu — but there is also new material scattered throughout).

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: I’ll start with the most important question first: Is there an ending to Tyrion’s “I once brought a jackass and a honeycomb into a brothel…” joke? And if there is, and if it’s never going to be told in the show, can you tell us what it is?

Dan Weiss: We can’t tell you. We have three teams of comedy writers working on that joke.

David Benioff: Louis CK, Amy Schumer and Tig Notaro are in three different rooms trying to come up with that.

Okay if not that, then what strikes you most about season 7?

Weiss: To me what’s most exciting is being able to play interactions between various characters that for years we haven’t been able to play. There’s a whole bunch of reunions and first time meetings that people have been waiting for for a long time and when you put it on paper you just want to do justice to the work that these guys have done building these characters over so many years. You want to give them as much as you can.
