CW Looking Into Black Lightning

Just a quick note to let you know Black Lightning is getting some attention. “Fox has apparently taken a pass from ordering a pilot for the DC comic adaptation Black Lightning, according to Deadline‘s Nellie Andreeva. And now The CW seems quite interested in adding one of comics’ first major African-American superheroes to its already crowded lineup that includes The FlashArrow and Legends of Tomorrow.” Read more on this story here..

Black-Lightning Live-Action Series Has A Pilot Now

“A week ago, we learned that a live-action Black Lightning superhero TV series, from Greg Berlanti and the husband-and-wife duo of Salim Akil and Mara Brock Akil (The Game, Being Mary Jane), was in the works and being shopped around to the networks. Now we know where the lightning has struck.

According to Variety, Black Lightning has received a pilot production commitment at The CWFox. Yes. Fox. Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter are executive-producing the project, and Salim and Mara Brock Akil are writing the television adaptation as well as executive-producing. The one-hour drama is being produced by Berlanti Productions, Akil Productions and Warner Bros. Television.

Here’s the synopsis for the series:

Jefferson Pierce has made his choice. He hung up the suit and his secret identity years ago, but with a daughter hell-bent on justice and a star student being recruited by a local gang, he’ll be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend: Black Lightning.”
