Board games are super hot right now and the Terminator franchise is always hot. If they pull this game off right, it could be spectacular. Here’s some of the official press release – “(November 15th, 2016 – Bellingham, WA) – Space Goat Productions announced today that they will be partnering with Studiocanal, Oak Productions, and Creative Licensing to make The Terminator: The Official Board Game™, which will be launching on Kickstarter in February of 2017.

William Wisher, one of the screenwriters of the original 1984 film, has been brought on as a story consultant. “I’m very excited to be consulting with the creative team at Space Goat to bring The Terminator™ board game to life!” said William Wisher. “I’ve missed my old friends Sarah Connor, Kyle Reese, and the T-800. It will be fun to spend time with them again!”” Read more on the upcoming board game here

Board Game Geek Reviews Seafall

seafallSeaFall is a 4X-inspired game (without player elimination/extermination) set in an “age of sail” world reminiscent of our world.

In SeaFall, the world is starting to claw its way out of a dark age and has begun to rediscover seafaring technology. Players take on the role of a mainland empire that consults with a consortium of advisors to discover new islands, explore those islands, develop trade, send out raiding parties, take part in ship-to-ship combat, and more. As in Risk Legacy and Pandemic Legacy, co-designed by Rob Daviau, SeaFall evolves as the game is played, setting their grudges into the history of the game and building a different narrative at every table as players open up the world.” Have a look at a couple images below the fold. Board Games Becoming Movies – Enter Monsterpocalypse

monsterpocalypse“A bidding war has blown up in Hollywood for film adaptation rights Monsterpocalypse, the board game created by Privateer Press. Included in this bidding war, which is between Sony, Warner Bros., and DreamWorks, is the understanding that it will be directed by Fede Alvarez (Evil Dead, Don’t Breathe) with Alvarez co-writing the story alongside his partner Rodo Sayagues, according to THR.

Bearing similarities to Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim, the board game, “…pits humans in robot suits against monsters.” However, sources tell the website that while the core concept remains the same that the story will play out far different from del Toro’s film.”

Glad to see board games are getting hot again. You’ve heard us talk a lot here about playing a great board game with the addition of liquor, cigars, and food. And even music. Anyhoo, there’s more info, pics, and a fan video you can see here
