Superheroes Are Saving Fox

Indiewire

Nerds and Geeks await their thank-you’s! H/T to Tracking Board for this in-depth article.

Who knew? Who would have predicted this ridiculous character from a horrible movie would end up fronting one of the most successful superhero flicks ever made? Sure, there were lots of fans from the character’s time in the comic books, but come on, plenty of times over the years those “fans” didn’t translate into good box office, simply because the quality wasn’t there so they didn’t bother to show up or, if they did, they weren’t enough to make a dent.

Deadpool Animated TV Series Coming

Marvel Comics

Just a quick note to let you know the latest Deadpool news. Archer is getting a famous (and foul-mouthed) companion. FXX has given a 10-episode series order to a Marvel’s Deadpool animated adult action-comedy series, an adaptation of the hit Marvel character, with Atlanta creator/executive producer/star Donald Glover and writer Stephen Glover attached as showrunners, executive producers and writers. The untitled Marvel’s Deadpool series, set to debut in 2018, is produced by Marvel TV in association with FX Productions and ABC Signature Studios. It marks FX’s second collaboration with Marvel TV, joining their live-action drama series Legion, recently renewed for a second season. Read more on this story at Deadline here

Who’s Going To Play Cable In Deadpool?

Etube Onucheyo

Nerds and Geeks breathlessly await what is said to be the imminent news of the casting decision for Cable in Deadpool 2. Who do you think it will be? Comics Alliance gives us some possible insight:

“A few actors have been floated as contenders for Cable, a formidable mutant who shares a significant history with Deadpool in the comics. Kyle Chandler, Dolph Lundgren and Stranger Things star David Harbour have all been eyed for the role, but the casting process has taken a little longer as Wernick and Reese and director David Leitch search for the perfect fit. The writers say they’re specifically looking for “someone with a great deadpan thing where they can react to someone who’s being crazy,” but the casting of Cable is also key to Fox’s franchise plans, as Wernick explains:

They’ve got X-Force coming up. Cable is head of the X-Force so it’s someone who can also command a movie franchise. It’s a tall task and we have been on the hunt for a very long time. I think once it’s announced, as we get closer, people are gonna go crazy for it.”

We’re going to go out on a limb here with ‘none of the above’ but we’ll keep you posted the moment we hear anything! While you wait, check out the Deadpool 2 No Good Deed teaser at the link below.
