Video – Hellboy Animated Sword of Storms

Dark Horse Comics

Just found this video of the complete animated Hellboy Sword of Storms on YouTube. You might want to view it asap in case someone gets their dander up and pulls it. Featuring an all-star voiceover cast of Ron Perlman, Selma Blair, and Doug Jones, this is Hellboy straight out of the Dark Horse Mignola comics. Not the angst-ridden love story movies made later. A folklore professor becomes unwittingly possessed by the ancient Japanese demons of Thunder and Lightning. When the Bureau steps in to investigate, they discover the demon has much larger plans afoot for the entire planet. Video at the link below.

Mignola Says Hellboy Reboot Coming

Taringa.net

Just a quick note to let you know the on-again-off-again Hellboy saga is… On again. And this time, per Mignola himself. “The reboot will be R-rated, said Mignola on social media, and be helmed by The Descent and Dog Soldiers’ director Neil Marshall. David Harbour, most recently known for his role as Police Chief Jim Hopper in Stranger Things, will replace Ron Perlman as the eponymous red superhero. That’s all the information Mignola has released so far, but he promises “more news to come soon.”” more on this story at IGN.

No Hellboy. No Way. No How.

adweek.com

We were thinking we might see another Hellboy as we had covered some campaigning by Guillermo del Toro for a chapter 3 here. Fans were certainly pumped as del Toro got a ton more votes than he asked for but now… it’s dead. Have a look at the nail-in-the-coffin tweet at the link below.

Guillermo del Toro Gets Over 100K Votes For Hellboy 3

Guillermo del Toro recently began tweeting to generate fan interest for a third Hellboy movie. He is currently tweeting from his Twitter account here and revealed that the required 100K vote goal was surpassed. So he’s on to the next step which is talking to Ron Perlman and Mike Mignola. While this doesn’t mean that a HB3 movie is happening, it’s what we like to call a ‘trial balloon’ and this trial balloon was successful. In the meantime, we’ll keep you posted as soon as we hear more.

Happy Birthday To Guillermo del Toro

Born today in 1964. He directed the Hellboy, Hobbit, Pacific Rim, and Blade movies.

Hellboy To Return With Graphic Novel ‘Into The Silent Sea’

hellboysilentseaPaste Magazine reports Dark Horse is gearing up to publish the new graphic novel Hellboy: Into the Silent Sea on May 2, 2017. The story will be set after the 2005 story arc “The Island,” which was written and illustrated by creator Mike Mignola. The new high-seas-set story will be co-written by Mignola and Gary Gianni (with Gianni providing the art).

Here’s what Gianni had to say about the project:

“I imagine if Hellboy: Into the Silent Sea were a movie, the Hollywood hyperbole would describe it as Hellboy’s greatest adventure. Yes … it’s Hellboy as you’ve never seen him before, laughing, loving and battling his way across the stormy seas! You’ll be thrilled as he faces cosmic forces terrorizing a haunted shipped manned by a desperate crew!””
