Video – Joker Vs. Red Hood

Gamespot

It’s a rematch decades in the making, as Red Hood squares off against the Joker in this week’s versus clip. Seriously, do we really need to explain the history between the two? Jason Todd met his fate at the hands of the Joker in the classic storyline, “A Death in the Family.” But since then, he’s been reborn with a vengeance (literally!) as the gun-toting vigilante known as Red Hood. Will his shots find their green-haired target? Or will the Clown Prince of Crime once again get the last laugh? Video at the link below.

Joker Movie In The Works

Gamespot

Well it’s about time the King of Clowns had his own film!

Via Deadline:

EXCLUSIVE: Warner Bros and DC are in the early stages of another Batman Universe spinoff movie, this one telling the origin story of the signature villain The Joker. The studio has set The Hangover‘s Todd Phillips to co-write a script with 8 Mile scribe Scott Silver. Phillips will direct the movie, and Martin Scorsese will produce it with Phillips. This will be the first film under a new banner that has yet to be named in which WB can expand the canon of DC properties and create unique storylines with different actors playing the iconic characters.

An intriguing part is the setting. The intention is to make a gritty and grounded hard-boiled crime film set in early-’80s Gotham City that isn’t meant to feel like a DC movie as much as one of Scorsese’s films from that era, like Taxi Driver, Raging Bull or The King Of Comedy. I’m told that Phillips and Silver are writing already, but there is nothing firm on where this will fit into the DC schedule.

Sci-Clops will keep you posted on this film’s progress!

Video – Ten Things To Expect In The New Harley Quinn Spinoff Film

margotrobbieh/t to Screen Rant for putting this together! It will be interesting to see how Margot Robbie does with this film since we earlier reported she plans to direct. Clearly she can act and she’s a hot commodity. It will be great to see her do well in the director’s chair where she will hopefully crank out more sf/fantasy/horror flicks. Anyhoo, the video is below the fold – enjoy!

Suicide Squad Keeps Making Money

margotrobbieOr as the studios like to put it, ‘breaking past a major box office milestone’. In short, the film, savaged by critics (which we noted in detail here), has turned out to be a fan favorite. This is a big deal – but only if the studios listen. If they look at what the fans are doing for the movie instead of what the critics are saying, there will be more and even better films in the franchise, as well as spinoffs.  And unlike the Ghostbusters fiasco, which had a quick burst out of the starting gate and then stalled out, Suicide Squad keeps going. And note this – Independence Day has made even less than Ghostbusters and the industry was falling all over themselves with joyful anticipation of that release. The only movie that should give SS a run for its money right now is Sausage Party which would appeal to largely the same viewer base.
