Star Wars Battlefront 2 Official Beta Trailer

EA

Via Forbes: Remember: there’s no recoil on blasters. Star Wars Battlefront 2 is EA’s latest foray into the wide world of Star Wars, giving players a chance to place themselves in epic battles spread throughout every era of Star Wars, from Naboo to Endor and everywhere in between. And it’s available to try now, if you’re interested. The Star Wars Battlefront 2 Beta is currently live on Xbox One PS4  and PC for pre-order customers, with the open beta for everyone else scheduled to start on October 6. As usual, the beta serves as both a stress test for customers and a kind of demo for prospective buyers, giving us all a chance to see what sort of improvements EA has managed.

Battlefront 2 promises to be a much broader answer to the complaints that Star Wars Battlefront was short on content at launch. The new game has more modes, maps, and heroes, as well as a brand-new single-player campaign that takes place immediately after the destruction of the second Death Star. It’s an encouraging spate of improvements — its predecessor really was an excellent game in many ways, there just wasn’t quite enough of it. It proved itself perhaps the most faithful depiction of the original trilogy in video game format I’ve ever seen, and in some ways the Walker Assault mode alone was worth the price of admission, at least once that price went down a little bit. Video at the link below.

THR Says ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’ Gets A New Writer

StarWars.com

This is being hailed as really big news but is it? After all, with Carrie Fisher’s death, it would seem the story is going to have to be very carefully edited to make it work. One day, we’ll find out what it should have been…

Colin Trevorrow is directing the movie, which is eyeing a January 2018 start date. Jack Thorne, the British scribe who wrote the upcoming Julia Roberts-Jacob Tremblay movie Wonder, has been tapped to work on the Star Wars installment that is to be directed by Colin Trevorrow.

Trevorrow and his writing partner, Derek Connolly, have been working on the script, but sources say a fresh set of eyes was needed. It is unclear how extensive the rewrites will be. Rian Johnson wrote and directed Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the eighth installment of the sci-fi fantasy that opens Dec. 15.Force Awakens stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver and Oscar Isaac are expected to return — but you never know who a Star Wars movie may kill off, so don’t get too comfortable — with the ninth installment eyeing a production start in January 2018. The movie has a scheduled release date of May 24, 2019.

Thorne is the creator or co-creator of several British television shows, dramas and thrillers, including The Fades, The Cast-Offs, The Last Panthers and National Treasure.”

‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Creates ‘New Rules’ For The Franchise, Says Star Adam Driver

TheLastJedi/Disney

Hopefully, the folks at Disney won’t stretch these ‘new rules’ too far…

Via SlashFilm:

Adam Driver is probably the No. 1 hype man for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the eighth film in the core Star Wars franchise.

He has raved about the script, about director Rian Johnson, and now he has one more glowing thing to say. And it has interesting implications about the plot for The Last Jedi.

In an interview with The Huffington Post, Driver elaborated on his late 2016 comments when he gushed about Johnson, calling him “a brilliant filmmaker” who “understands the importance of ambiguity and nuance.” He said:

“[W]hat Rian had written was remarkable. He created new rules for the “Star Wars” universe and balanced the familiar and unfamiliar very adeptly while respecting that his audience can handle ambiguity. Which you can see in his previous films. Characters and story are his priority.”
