Comicbook.com Exclusive: Kevin Feige And Amy Pascal’s Final Ruling On Venom In Marvel Cinematic Universe

Wikipedia

Venom makes headlines again as we get a final statement on whether he makes the MCU or not.

Via Comicbook.com: It’s time to settle the debate, once and for all. Will Venom and the rest of Sony’s Marvel characters be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

Not at all. Speaking to the heads of Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures, Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal, respectively, ComicBook.com got to the bottom of the debate which began a week ago — shortly after Tom Hardy was cast a Venom in a standalone film coming from Sony. Initially, Feige firmly ruled Venom out of his precious Marvel Cinematic Universe before Pascal, a day later, made a statement which sounded a lot like the character would be included.  Now, the official ruling from both is in after the debate took the Internet by storm.

“Here’s what we’re doing: all these characters are a part of the Marvel comic book universe,” Pascal said. “In that universe, they are all related to each other. Kevin [Feige] makes characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. These characters are separate, except for Spidey, who belongs in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is why he’s there.”

Wait, What? Sony Says Venom Is Part Of The Marvel Cinematic Universe

Marvel Comics

It does sometimes seem like there is a push-pull fight going back and forth over Deadpool and it’s probably because the stakes riding on the second film are so high.

Via We Got This Covered:

Sony and Marvel really need to get on the same page about their plans for Venom and all the other related Spider-Man characters who are being queued up to get the live-action treatment. Ever since their landmark deal to allow Peter Parker to enter the MCU, the exact specifics of what exactly that would involve have been hazy at best, with each studio refusing to clarify it. At this point, it seems like they don’t even know themselves what’s really going on, and it’s led to a whole lot of confusion amongst fans.

We know that Spider-Man is being lent to Marvel for them to use him in the MCU, which we’ve already seen in Captain America: Civil War and will see again next month with his own solo outing, but beyond that, we’re unsure of what the plan is. We imagine he’ll show up in Avengers: Infinity War as well, and if Tom Holland is to be believed, then we’ll get two sequels to Homecoming too, but nothing’s really been confirmed just yet. What’s perhaps even more confusing though is what’s going on with Venom.

Venom Movie Release Date

Just a quick note to let you know Marvel did the due date shuffle. “Ever since Venom popped up in Sam Raimi‘s SPIDER-MAN 3, where he was played by Topher Grace, there has been talk of a spin-off centering around the Spidey villain, but not much has come of it, until now. In a rather surprising move, Sony Pictures have slated the VENOM movie for a October 5, 2018 release, filling the hole which was vacated by AQUAMAN earlier today.” Read more on this story at JoBlo here.
