Introduced in 1980 in The Uncanny X-Men #130, Dazzler (aka Alison Blaire) is a mutant who can convert sound vibrations into light and energy beams, an ability she utilized in her career as a singer.

The character’s live-action film debut has been long teased, first in 2013 as an April Fools’ Day prank by X-Men: Days of Futures Past director Bryan Singer, and then with an Easter egg in a deleted scene from last year’s X-Men: Apocalypse.

New X-Men Film Shooting 2017?

screenrant.com

“Not long ago it was reported that Fox was looking to do a light reboot of the X-Men film franchise without director Bryan Singer. There weren’t a lot of details on what that would actually entail, but it was later rumored that the next film in the franchise would focus on the Dark Phoenix saga, which I hope is true!

Sophie Turner is expected to reprise her role as Jean Grey, and I imagine some of the other new young actors introduced in X-Men: Apocalypse will also join her. Elements of the Dark Phoenix saga storyline were used in X-Men: The Last Stand, but this next film is said to completely focus on it.

Whether this is what Fox is doing or not, they have a plan in place because they are about to start production on the film in Montreal. The news comes from Le Journal de Montreal, who says that a production office opened up yesterday at the MELS Studios complex, which is where X-Men: Days Of Future Past and X-Men: Apocalypse both shot.”

X-Men’s Chris Claremont Says Hollywood Is Killing The Comic

xmen“With over 15 years spent writing for Marvel’s “X-Men” comics, Chris Claremont co-created many of the properties most enduring and endearing characters like Rogue and Mystique, scripted the iconic arcs “The Dark Phoenix Saga” and “Days of Future Past” with John Byrne, and helped to develop the fan-favorite character Wolverine into one of the franchise’s most recognizable heroes. And yet the surge of the comics’ popularity in the 90s has fallen off in recent years. Claremont lays the blame on Hollywood.

In a chat with Hugh Sheridan during New York Comic-Con (via BC), Claremont gave a candid account of his feelings regarding 20th Century Fox’s ownership of theX-Men film franchise, the effect that ownership has had on the title’s comics as of late, and the rise of the Inhumans. As great as it’s been for longtime comic book fans to see their favorite properties come to life on the big screen over the last 15 years or so, there are always going to be casualties when multi-billion-dollar corporations get involved.” Are you still reading the comics or just watching the movies now?

X-23 Confirmed For Logan Film

logan-wolverine-3-movieIt’s getting a little silly where we see a trailer that shows the obvious over ten scenes but never really directly actually completely unquestionably confirms what it’s showing. So that three days later, the studios can release a single picture and generate more hits by showing you that what you all knew all along is going to happen. At any rate, X-23 is confirmed. We’re not trying to sound bitter or angry for the sake of being angry, but… X-23? Duh.

“If the hints in the trailer and the details from trade reports recently weren’t enough to convince you that Logan would see the introduction of the mutant known as X-23, the confirmation you’ve been waiting for has arrived.

A new photo from the official Logan Instagram account (with the username “wponx”) has confirmed what we have all assumed for a little while now. Young actress Dafne Keen, who can be seen several times in the Logan trailer, is playing Laura Kinney, the mutant clone of Weapon X, aka Wolverine (Hugh Jackman). Check out the X-23 photo from Loganafter the jump.”
